This initiative aims to enhance domestic processing and value addition, potentially creating opportunities for skilled jobs, local businesses, and economic growth. In 2025, Ghana produced approximately 5.94 million ounces of gold, generating about $20 billion in export revenues, with small-scale mining playing a significant role. The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) is pivotal in formalizing gold trading and ensuring quality, indicating a move toward a more comprehensive gold value chain within the country.
